Hello weevils!
This post is a rant concerning the current bin as whole but rather than it being repetiton of any old rant on here or elsewhere, I thought I'd spide it up a little by bringing in every generation in the bin-scape!
GENERATION 1
This post is a rant concerning the current bin as whole but rather than it being repetiton of any old rant on here or elsewhere, I thought I'd spide it up a little by bringing in every generation in the bin-scape!
GENERATION 1
2003-2007: This was the start of it all. Founders Myke Crosby and Amelia Johnson made this 2D world for their intention of it being different to any other kids brand. Hosted by Nick and Prism Entertainment, it made a great 2D game for the era. Nothing much is known as it has no recorded footage (just swfs) but we can clearly see from the pictures that it kept into a great context!
GENERATION 2
GENERATION 2
2007-2010: Ah, the generation I joined in! How do you adapt your game with modern day effects? Well, by re-creating the old looks and making them look modern of course! This generation was simply the best! It showed improvements from the previous generation whilst also providing the same look; just better as it has gone 3D! The 3D animations were fantastic for competing with the recently new game 'Club Penguin' and new features like the Dirt Valley racing were very impressive for a 2007 internet game! Everyone in the community settled down and awaited new things that maybe you could say the 2D version never had the opportunity to do! Nick and Prism did a fantastic job here and made a good influence on your imagination!
Design cannot get any better when it comes to re-rendering already existing designs! Well apart from turning drawn animations into CGI animations anyway. Examples of successful re-rending would be TV shows like The Simpsons or Red Dwarf where they improve animation whilst making the designs look the same.
And the way they improved Bin Weevils in 2007 was what I call a fantastic job! There were concerns in this generation with things like Dirt Valley Track 4 never coming out but other than that, this in my opinion was the best generation of Bin Weevils ever!
GENERATION 3

GENERATION 3
2010-2014: Out of the blue, Bin Weevils went independent and changed it's entire site round. Many classical fonts they used to use were no longer used anymore and the unique 3D areas that took ages to make were gradually replaced or revamped into a more 2D design. Revamped areas did have similar looks to their previous look and new features were only aimed at attracted new players. The demand for Bin Tycoon went extremely high and many area of concerns came to life (in which are still concerns six years later today).
They took a different approach. For as much as they kept it a bin, they didn't seem to value that factor as much as they used to ages ago. For as much as this generation had the most players, features like 'King Of The Bin' (that had been a very main aim to the game since the first generation) were suddenly removed and this resulted in many old players leaving.
In other words, this generation represents the battle that the Native Americans and Englishmen had.
GENERATION 4

GENERATION 4
2014+: When we thought the third generation was the worst thing ever; players from the third and a few that were still there from the second (like me) saw a complete massacre to our favourite game!
Rather than re-renderings of existing designs, the new company '55Pixels' create a completely new design with a use of vibrant colours and promises broken more than they did in the second generation and the worst thing of all: they removed the context!
This is the aftermath of the fight where the Native American's land is completely invaded and took over by the new leaders which they created the United States.
LET'S COMPARE!
One major feature in this current generation is indeed the design and colour. All three previous generations had used a range of dark/dark-ish colours and the game itself revolved around game updates, not blog updates! Players such as X-lightening-X prefer the first ever generation to the current one and this says a lot as a BETA game is always considered the worst and most boring!

The worst past about this is that the incompetent staff think that we should simply move on and start liking these new changes! Seriously? I mean, that's like being told to enjoy the new CGI re-make Snoopy film whilst have had a good experience with the original cartoon! Surely, they should understand that changes like this can't be enjoyed so easily. I mean, it goes completely against the founder's intentions and goes the complete opposite. Bin Weevils is supposed to be a game that stands out against other kids brands but instead of that, Bin Weevils is a game that now looks up to oher games like Moshi Monsters and Club Penguin and completely copies their design! This is just like when Tony Blair became leader of the left-wing Labour party and made it into a more Liberal party but rather than it being more Liberal, imagine it becoming more right-wing because that is how much change Bin Weevils has caused!
The pack of players that joined within the 'boom' population in 2011 have even left and it says a lot when people from even the generation that us native players called 'new' have even took an exit out of anger.
We can clearly see that re-rendering the designs rather than re-vamping them was the key to success. I really wonder why Bin Weevils had to leave Nick. I mean, with power from two companies, they wouldn't need to go mad on tycoon features and would surely not need to over promote ads everywhere.
When Bin Weevils was being hosted by Nick and Prism, it worked. I mean, it made great support when competing with other huge companies like Disney but now that it became it's own thing, Disney are just too ahead when it comes to finance support.
I mean, they had no feelings for the second generation players back in the third generation but they at least made a home for new comers in which some major new features we could actually tolerate such as Bin Badges, Bin Cards etc. But nowadays, they put their middle finger up at even the modern people! Though the extended buddy list update can give us hope for change.
The makeover that was done in 2007 actually worked. I mean, it had a good enough excuse to update as it was being re-modelled but generations further on had no excuse. The second generation didn't even get enough time to even be enjoyed properly and due to it's dramatic change, things like Bin Tycoon restraunts and hair salons had no chance of ever coming out.
People like Richard Watney who make huge changes just make me sick. I mean, it's not like us players even had a say in what happens to our own game. If they like introducing change so much, they could at least allow their own people to elect the next CEO so that we can choose whether or not the bin changes.
You really do think player feedback is important don't you 55Pixels when you give us changes that our way out of our league? The changes you have made is just like someone turning Spongebob into a baby show in which they're taught how to read and write. Yes, everyone even children know what suffering a decrease in age rating is like.
Bin Weevils from 2003-2014 was for 7+, why has it suddenly changed to 3+? Using another expression; it's just like replacing an AK47 with a jelly bean gun on Call Of Duty (I bet even the thought hurts for all you console gamers out there) so 55Pixels really needs to understand that you can't adapt to the extreme.
That's it for this post!
