With having a few minutes to spare, I think I should talk about how Bin Weevils are on the Wings of Fail.
As I have mentioned from the past, Bin Weevils are likely to close down any time soon due to how they are currently running game so I have decided to use this time to summarise and talk about the possible closure in more detail:
1. Updates
As you can see from the two images above, if you compare the updates from the old version of the game to what the updates are to the current version of the game, you should clearly see that the features in the current game have dramatically gone too basic and is just something that no longer occupies us anymore. Whereas in the old bin, you never had a week with constant best nests and best gardens and lots of advertisement for promotions they add in-game, flash mobs and codes that give you pure crap nest items and less challenging gameplay and big woop accessories. You used to be given something like a new game, completely new area (not a re-draw), a new SWS Mission or just something else that occupied us for a long amount of time which gave the team a long enough time to create something else great for us for when we finished whatever they implemented before. Having the lack of updates obviously shows the lack of care and possibly focussing on something else which brings me onto my next point. Also, less updates means less money due to players not wanting to buy membership due to having done everything the game has to offer.
2. Their other games
As we all know, the Bin Weevils staff commonly known as 55Pixels have been focussing on their other games which are Crater Craft, Snakes In Space and Pirates Vs The Deep. In addition to working up on other games and investing a lot of work into it obviously means less work for Bin Weevils which could result in them moving on and closing Bin Weevils since players won't be as interested as I said above, they will have nothing to do.
3. No ultra BIG update since 2014
2014 saw off a few things like an updated Summer Fair but the real stop in production started in around 2013. 2013 brought out many new games and of course, the Bin Badges with a very mighty challenge to be occupied on (especially for the SWS section). We also had completely new things like Bin Pet's Paradise, and area that isn't just a horrible re-creation of a current area. The real last challenge for me was as I said, the Laboratory Lockdown mission that was released in 2012. Anything else after that either was too easy or just got completely boring after a few runs of whatever it was. No BIG updates being done hints at a sign of possible departure and possibly thinking of other ways to earn money.
4. Comparison to another online game
What makes my points very solid is by comparing to another online game that had the same issues. This so called game is Disney's Toontown Online, which shockingly closed after meeting all the modern day happenings what Bin Weevils currently has.
For example, Toontown stopped doing major updates in 2008 (which in Bin Weevil terms is Laboratory Lockdown, Bin Pet's Paradise, something like that) which saw the game lose many players and money. The community started becoming a community full of people picking up online dates, running their own game shows, glitching constantly, exploiting the game etc. Surprise surprise, Bin Weevils are also going through it, with of course the horrible roleplayers filling up Flem Manor.
Furthermore, just like 55Pixels are doing by making more games, the Walt Disney company suddenly started putting a lot more effort into their other online game known as 'Club Penguin'. Disney stopped a lot of production in Toontown which resulted in it eventually running out of things to do and had to close down in 2013 because of that. This is what is happening right now with Crater Craft, Snakes In Space and Pirates Vs The Deep.
Also, the updates Toontown started doing after 2008 were just like the updates Bin Weevils do. Toontown brought out one semi-major feature and event in 2010 which turned to a disaster and easily became boring and everything after that was just a feature that made gameplay easier and was just constant bringing out of accessories, just like with Bin Weevils's flash mob events, the feature of the new game, 'Sink's Ships', a heap load of new nest items and the various mulch codes they bring out every week.
So just like Bin Weevils, it had a lack of updates, resulting in nothing to do most of the time which stopped the payments of memberships, had a new community role playing from scripts, online dating and creating their own game shows. And having no major update, (like Bin Weevils hasn't in years) Toontown saw it's fate in September 2013 due to having many years of no occupying updates, which is why it is very important that Bin Weevils start development once again because it is literally ending up like a ghost town that will get obliterated. And it might not have much of a chance of a private server bringing the game back because unlike the Toontown community, the majority of Bin Weevils players are too young to even know how to re-write an entire game.
But, as I've also said, you can keep it alive. Instead of creating a petition like Toontown did, everyone could just pledge money for the game to be able to remain alive. Also, by learning from the faults from the responses the Toontown community came up with, we can look at how that game ended and could possibly prevent it from happening on Bin Weevils so overall, if we learn from what has happened to something, we can keep the other thing going by learning from what happened to that something.
That's it for this post!
