Hello weevils!
Welcome to the first post of 2017! The new year itself may be a feeling of relief for things such as atmosphere and deaths no longer happening at such a high rate but in the world of Bin *cough* I mean 'Fantasy islands for the young' weevils, there are still major concerns at the game's status and we are still heading towards it closing. Perhaps next year it will die with this rate.
Anyway, what I would like to go into is the recent 50% off sale at Nestco.

To summarise, 55Pixels have basically allowed us to vote on what shop categories should be having a half price reduction. For as much as this is engaging in what most players would want (something 55Pixels seem to be alergic to), the whole concept based around this has quite a few issues.
First off, let's look at this aisle in the store
First off, let's look at this aisle in the store
Now, from looking at both pages of the shelving section, the highest price for a shelf is 20 Dosh. Yes, if this section happened to win in the polls, the highest discount you would get for a single item is a measly saved 10 dosh and this is nothing for especially the Bin Tycoons. The only way you would be getting highly benefited is if you bought multiple of the expensive items but yet again, this section happens to only have two or three shelves that are actually slightly pricey whilst many come to under 1,000 mulch each which is easy to get by planting flowers! Same principle applies to the ceilings. And if anything, ceilings would even be a much more waste of discount since you can't even have a suitable quantity at once in one nest!
Earning money in general is extremely easy due to how the game is set up so are sales even that special? I remember back in 2009 where I spent an entire day playing games in order to buy a piano for 995 mulch (back then, that amount would have been a lot of mulch!) and when I arrived at the nest shop to buy it, what do I know? They had a sale on where the piano was reduced to 297 mulch which then left me with lots of mulch left over! Now that is what I call a discount that is beneficial! Nowadays, earning mulch has no challenge and can be easily speculated with the use of gardening. And Dosh itself only needs to take a fraction out of your money for yourself to have enough of it.
So, to summarise, 55Pixels have got players to basically vote for certain categories in the shop to have a 50% discount rather than all the expensive items being cut. If I were to create any form of poll involving a vote on sales, I myself would reduce everything by 50% and get perhaps people to vote on the top 6 categories that should get a 75% dicount so that way, the small percentage of people that really wanted a discount on the 7th party ballot can at least still enjoy some sort of discount!
But hey! What do you expect? It's 55Pixels!
That's it for this post!
