Hello weevils!
As you know, Bin Weevils had been offline for around 3-4 days and today marks the day where it actually came back on! Now, what is there to post about this on a rant site you might ask? Well, many things!
Let me start off with what players saw after logging in. No, for as much as it sounds like something innapropriate, it is not that at all. Why in fact, everyone logged onto a game that seems to have taken a step back into Open-Beta, but without the cool old game but rather the modern game with some features missing. Everyone's garden seems to have also messed up with exception of the team actually not bothering to restore everyone's garden to the session in which everyone should get the gardens they saw their gardens as 3-4 days ago. The game, is in fact, broken. I'm just surprised that this could happen because after all, this is supposed to be a 'technical server issue' but let me involve the 55Pixels team in the next paragraph.
The way 55Pixels try to cover this up was what I called dumb. It was so clear that violent protesters hacked into their weak, un-secure databases/servers because they were unhappy with the current game. Me myself, am a non-violent protester but since I've felt the pain they have, I don't honestly care what they do; they can get on with it. Anyway, 55Pixels as always never like to tell us the full truth and as players or subscribers to the game, I think we have a right to now what exactly is going on! But, as always, evidence is everything so why not I show you an example of one of their attempts to make us feel safe?
From the year 2014, here, I present:
After reading such a message, don't you just want to say 'F*** Off!' to the message or if you happen to be someone who isn't old enough to swear, don't you want to say something like 'Fer crying out loud!'? Of course, the same year this message was sent to me, two hackers found the ability to access any account they wanted, including accounts made by Bin Weevils themselves at that time. Plus, if Edward Snowdon can access government Top Secret files in the pentagon, it is clearly possible to hack accounts on a freaking kids game. So, to conclude, we know that the company lie, exaggerate and patronise their players to either attempt to shut them up or just so they don't want to form panic in the community. Of course, it is good to calm everyone down but lying to them about something like not being able to hack a Bin Weevil will simply hit them hard for when it does happen; and what do you know? It did happen! Making their players aware that hacking is going on will make them prepared for anything in the future whereas lying to them saying they are 100% fine will just result in them thinking everything is okay and will have to learn the hard way if the worse does happen.
So overall, 55Pixels show themselves as the incompetent, weak and lack of skilled company they always have been. I mean, Case Study wise, Toontown Rewritten have had similar issues with people trying to affect their private systems and they have resolved the issues much better than 55Pixels have and these people who are behind the desks at Toontown Rewritten are old teenagers/young adults who are running a game without trying to earn money. So, compared to Toontown Rewritten, I find 55Pixels a huge embarrassment of a company who need to sell Bin Weevils before they completely get it destroyed with exception of it being too late. I mean, they don't even reach out to their players and would choose to live in a world of their own rather than reality so we really can't have them running the game we loved growing up with!
That's it for this post!
