Hello weevils!
Since it's been a while that I've posted, I thought it'd be the right time to post a small rant regarding this years Summer Fair.
Before I go into detail, I would like to state that the arcade was reasonable (I do have a small concern about it though) and that I welcome them bringing in more things that involve challenging everyone around the world but, since this is a rant site, I best get the drawbacks out there (stating advantages only needs to be brief so that we don't look bias!).
Let's start off with the Token system. Since the Summer Fair began back in 2013, there has of course been a currency called 'tokens' in which you spend on accessories and other features at the fair. The biggest problem with this is that they all disappear once you log out. This is a problem because the probability of getting logged out automatically increases each day (especially with all this hacking) and it has been really frustrating for people who want to stockpile tokens throughout the course of a few hours so that they could splash on all types of things. There have been many times I've been stockpiling tokens and seen myself automatically logged out. Now, how do the staff at 55Pixels respond to this exactly? Well, recently, my friend callum390 and I approached Swathe on his last few days working there and coincidentally, we both asked the same thing whether or not tokens can stay after you logged out. Callum asked first and Swathe responded by telling us that "you can earn then back easily" if you happen to be logged out. That, I say, is a pathetic excuse and that it wouldn't apply for people who would have stockpiled to like 1,000 tokens since earning back that many tokens would take quite a long time. So, why don't they just change it? I mean, they have already failed to justify why they shouldn't stay after being logged out.
Moving on, we have the arcade. Now, I enjoy playing on worldwide leaderbaords and what not but the arcade itself is a feature I've found to have not taken a month or so. This arcade is literally Ram's pop-up arcade simplified and redecorated and is an example of lazy work with exception of no other major updates being made during the creation of it. They didn't even have the decency to remove the sign which says 'Ram's pop-up arcade' on which makes it even more of a problem than it usually is. Other than that, I've been glad that the new 2016 Summer Fair addition was something competitive.
Furthermore, the rest of the fair is just the same old recycled looks to what it looked like in 2014. I will say that it has improved from 2015 as it at least added one more attraction but other than that, it is the same old stuff we had got bored of last year or even two years ago. They seem to focus on the gunge tent; the most unpopular feature there is when we could really be doing with something else that can keep us going back there such as more additions to the Tycoon Fun House or more characters to play on Bin Pet Bounce or even see a return of the 'Weekly Challenge' that was implemented into the first fair in 2013. The only thing that is keeping me from coming back is the two unreleased arcade games and that is it. The whole fair is a pain to play anyway since you lose your tokens after being kicked off and that a lot of games have to actually depend on luck rather than skill.
A lot of us players expected a completely new fair as for at least a month, the team had been telling us that they had been working on it and seeing that the only thing they have worked on all this time is a redecorated arcade with 4 mini-games and new, pointless accessories has really let us down. Get a grip 55Pixels!
Oh, and players would also like it if you wouldn't cover up the reason to why Swathe is no longer there. But, that is just a different story.
That's it for this post!
